পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 16 - 17; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 11-13; পায়ূ কাঁটা 3; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 9 - 10. Diagnosis: 2 lateral spots on body (supra-pectoral and caudal); breeding males: yellow breast and narrow yellow marginal band on anal fin (Ref. 57549).

Territorial males construct bowers at the sand-rock interface at depths of 12-18m; females and immature males form small groups and feed on plankton in the water column and on benthic invertebrates (Ref. 57549).
