Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecologie
marien; zoet water; brak water. Tropical; 6°N - 7°S, 106°E - 117°E (Ref. 189)
Western Central Pacific: Indonesia (Kalimantan at Pamangkat on the western coast and Banjermasin on the Barito River to the South). Indian records of Coilia borneensis probably refer to Coilia reynaldi, a very similar species. Probably also Thailand (Ref. 1632).
Grootte / Gewicht / Leeftijd
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 12.4 cm SL mannelijk / geslacht onbekend; (Ref. 189)
Dorsale stekels (totaal): 0; Anale stekels 0; Anale zachte stralen: 80. Body tapering, belly rounded before pelvic fins, with 4 or 5 + 7 or 8 = 11 to 13 keeled scutes from just behind pectoral fin base to anus. Maxilla short, not reaching to edge of gill cover. Pectoral fin with 13 or 14 long filaments and 5 to 7 branched fin rays, much shorter than those of pelvic fin. Anal fin long, the last fin ray joined to the caudal fin, which is small and pointed.
Evidently a riverine species, or at least estuarine, but perhaps also in the sea. More data needed. Uncertainty over identifications makes previous literature unreliable.
