duri punggung lunak (Keseluruhan (total)): 7-8; Sirip dubur lunak: 7 - 8. Differs morphometrically from G. purpurea in having on average a shallower caudal peduncle, shorter mean distance from origin of pectoral fin to origin of pelvic fin and longer upper jaw. Differs from G. ditaenia in its shorter caudal peduncle and longer post-orbital mean lengths and an average of 57 vs. 68 scales in the lateral line.
