Short description
Morfologia | Morfometria
Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 4; Raggi anali molli: 56; Vertebre: 48 - 51. Caudal fin obliquely truncate, with upper lobe 1.0-1.1 times the length of the lower lobe; conspicuous serrations on the posterior edge of the pectoral spine in mature males.
Inhabits small forest streams with clear water with boulders, cobbles and coarse gravel grading to fine sand bottoms (Ref. 26091). Most of the fish occurring syntopically with S. citatus are specialized for living in fast-flowing waters (genera Gastromyzon, Hypergastromyzon, Homaloptera, Schismatorhynchos, Glyptothorax) (Ref. 32835).
