Écologie
marin démersal; profondeur 50 - 95 m (Ref. 81822). Tropical
Indian Ocean, from Mauritius and South Africa (northern KwaZulu-Natal), and probably also off Madagascar and Mozambique at comparable depths.

Max length : 4.8 cm SL mâle / non sexé; (Ref. 27771)
Épines dorsales (Total): 10; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 16-17; Épines anales 3; Rayons mous anaux: 7; Vertèbres: 26. Unique among the others in having three ventrally-directed to antrorse spines on the ventral margin of the preopercle.
Rests on the bottom with gravel and small round corals; usually in pairs.
