Claves de identificación | Morfología | Morfometría
Juvenile specimens display three horizontal rows of light brown, square-shaped blotches along the flanks, which merge as they mature, forming a gray-brown background pattern with scattered light vermiculations. There are also stripes on its sides. In adults, it has a pointed snout past the margin of the lower lip, and a narrow, sinuous whitish stripe running longitudinally along the dorsolateral region can be seen. This stripe extends from the vertical line at the posterior edge of the predorsal plate to the end of the adipose-fin base.
