Etymology: Diapoma: Greek, dis, dia = through + Greek, poma = cover (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Fritz Terofal (1932–1988) was an ichthyologist who was Director of the Ichthyology Section, Bavarian State Collection of Zoology, Munich, Germany. He wrote: Susswasserfische in europaischen Gewassern (1984). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
