背棘 (總數) : 0; 背的軟條 (總數) : 20 - 23; 臀棘: 0; 臀鰭軟條: 23 - 26. SL/Depth 3.7-4.8. Head 3.9-4.7 x SL, 3.6-5.2 x bigger than eye diameter. Pectoral fins 1.1-1.4 x head length, posterior end reaching origin of pelvic fins (which is 1.7-2.2 x length if pectorals). Dorsal and anal fin origins at same level. Caudal peduncle height 2.1-3.2 x of its length. Color uniformly dark, almost black (Upper Niger); Middle Niger individuals light colored with small dots of melanophores.
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
SL/深度 3.7-4.8. 頭部 3.9-4.7 x SL,3.6-5.2 倍於眼直徑。 胸鰭 1.1-1.4 x 頭長 , 後端達到腹鰭起點。 (是 1.7-2.2 x 長度如果胸鰭) 在相同的水平背鰭與臀鰭起源。 尾柄高度 2.1-3.2 倍於它的長度。 一致的黑色, 幾乎黑色的 (尼日河上游); 尼日中部的個體淡色的有小黑點。
Affinities: sympatric with P. isidori.
