Etymology: leda: Named for the Greek mythology, Leda, mother of Clytemnestra, Castor, Helen, and Pollux (Ref. 7365).
Eponymy: In Greek mythology, Leda was the mother of Helen (of Troy) and of the twins Castor and Pollux. Eschmeyer’s name was doubtless inspired by the fact that two other members of this genus had, a century earlier, been named as P. castor and P. pollux. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

背棘 (總數) : 12; 背的軟條 (總數) : 9; 臀棘: 3; 臀鰭軟條: 4 - 5. Reddish in color with black specks on dorsolateral part of head, body, dorsal fin and caudal fin (Ref. 4313).
淡紅的顏色在頭部，身體，背鰭與尾鰭的背外側部份上有黑色的斑點.(參考文獻 4313)
Occurs over soft bottoms (Ref. 4510).
