Comments: Known from the Gulf of Tonkin (Ref. 9706), Quang Tri Sea, Khanh Hoa (Ref. 30915), Hon Ong and Phu Quoc Island, on soft bottom areas with sand silt and seagrass (Ref. 129070). Genetically distinct from Japanese specimens (Ref. 30915). Listed as Endangered in 1994 Vietnam Red Data Book as H. japonicus. Also Ref. 46452.
