Occurs in larger intermittent tributaries; prefers standing or slow-flowing pools and thrives in impounded waters; feeds on invertebrates and small fish; breeds in summer, the female mouth brooding the eggs and larvae (Ref. 7248, 52307). Agamous and ovophilic (Ref. 52307).
