Dorsal and anal fins nearly confluent with rounded caudal fin.

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Inhabit ephemeral areas that dry out over summer and autumn months, where they aestivate in damp areas or under tree roots and logs (Ref. 43717). Spawn all throughout the year (Ref. 33843).
