Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 21 - 24; Vertebrae: 32 - 33. Astyanax acatlanensis is distinguished from its congeners in inland central Mexico by the following characters: supracephalic profile, usually concave (vs. usually convex); modally 12 (modally 11-11.5) predorsal scales; modally 15.5 or fewer scales around caudal peduncle (vs. modally 16 or more); 10 or more procurrent unsegmented caudal fin rays on dorsum (9 or fewer in A. rioverde); head short, mean 23.8% SL (mean 24.6% or higher in A. mexicanus, A. rioverde and A. salvatoris); sides of anterior fontanel, straight (convex, in A. rioverde); ascending vs. descending arms of premaxilla, subequal (vs. dentigerous longer); infraorbital IV, square with projections (rectangular in A. rioverde); and opercle dorsal edge, convex (obtuse in A. rioverde and A. salvatoris) (Ref.118583).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01148 (0.00526 - 0.02507), b=3.08 (2.91 - 3.25), in cm Total Length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.9   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
