Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Vertebrae: 41. Distinguished from all other species of Trichomycterus, except for T. castroi, in having a conspicuous, vertical unpigmented band across the proximal region of caudal fin. Can be further differentiated from T. castroi in possessing that band occupying about 30% or less than the length of the caudal fin, and being more evident in the dorsal lobe as a white ocellus (vs. that zone distinctly broader, with approximately 80% of the length of the caudal fin and better defined as a whole) (Ref. 55400).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

A rheophilic species occurring solely in riffle areas of streams (Ref. 55400). Feeds mainly on young benthic aquatic insects during the day (Ref. 55400).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00851 (0.00355 - 0.02043), b=2.93 (2.74 - 3.12), in cm Total Length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.40 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Low, minimum population doubling time 4.5 - 14 years (Assuming Fec < 100).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (13 of 100).
