Etymology: Microglanis: Greek, mikros = small + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335); berbixae: 'berbixae', i.e., in honor of Maria Resureccion Sesma Lizari, "Berbixe', mother of Ibon Tobes Sesma (Ref. 128950).

Found in the central area or mouth of a stream, with shallow rapids and subtrates composed of pebbles, small scattered boulders, sand, gravel, and bedrock. The largest specimen observed was 5.42 cm, standard length (Ref. 128950).
