Dorsale stekels (totaal): 38 - 43; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal): 11-15; Anale stekels 2; Anale zachte stralen: 51 - 57; Wervels: 73 - 75. Head short, depressed, length 5.1-6.7 SL; lower jaw projects prominently; dorsal fin low, even, with the origin 0.7-1.8 of a head length behind the head; pre-dorsal length 25-31% SL; origin of anal fin slightly in advance of the dorsal fin origin; with pre-anal length 25-29% SL; caudal vertebrae 56-57 (Ref. 42968).
Found in sandy areas, from the intertidal down to 10 m depth (Ref. 42968).
