Known from Raoping county of Huanggang river system; Leizhou peninsula Zhanjiang city Xiashan of Zhuxi river system in Guangdong Province. Another 1 specimens from Qionghai county of Wanquan river systems in Hainan Province(Ref.41252).

Gill rakers on the first arch, 19-22; vertebrae 52-55; predorsal scales 41-52; possesses large tricuspid teeth, short lower jaw and weakly elongate upper jaw projection; pelvic fins more posteriorly located than in Hyporhamphus limbatus.
