Etymology: Nothobranchius: Greek, nothos = false + Greek, brangchia = gill (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Mrs Edith Korthaus (1923–1987) was a German aquarist and botanist who collected in Tanzania (1973) and in Kalimantan, Indonesia (1978). She was Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Das Aquarium (1972). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Occurs in pools, swamps, ditches and small streams (Ref. 3788, 97277). Temporary pools and streams; distinctively more abundant in temporary pools; open savanna-like vegetation and gallery forest (Ref. 83284). Bottom spawner, 1-3 months incubation (Ref. 27139).
