Africa: Restricted to the Kaké river drainage in the area around Mount Cameroon.

Occurs in swampy parts of brooks and small streams in the rainforest, mainly on volcanic soil (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
