Inhabits reefs with sand and rubble areas (Ref. 9710). Benthopelagic (Ref. 58302). Feeds on sea urchins, heart urchins, bivalves, gastropods, brittle stars, crabs, hermit crabs and polychaetes. Protogynous (Ref. 55080). Eaten raw, dried and salted, baked or broiled (Ref. 7364).
