Dorsal soft rays (total): 39; Anal soft rays: 36; Vertebrae: 47. Diagnosis. Vertebrae 47; D 39; A 35; pectoral fin rays 15; single notch ray; strong spinal hump; keeled gular area; unmodified gill rakers; three round pectoral radials; lacking interradial fenesta, widely spaced second and third radials; small foramen piercing basal lamina anterior to scapula; heavily pigmented stomach, pyloric caeca and anterior half of intestine, and mottled posterior part of intestine. It belongs to the Psednos christinae species–group, but differs from all other species in this group by having a larger eye (35.7% of head length), heavily pigmented gastrointestinal duct, pectoral girdle structure, and a combination of other characters.
