Etymology: Oidiphorus: Greek, oidos, -eos, -oys = swell + Greek, pherein = to carry (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Donald Evan McAllister (1934–2001) was a Canadian ichthyologist. He was appointed (1958) as Curator of Fishes, National Museum of Canada, and massively increased the museum’s ichthyological collection. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
