Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 31 - 34; Vertebrae: 87 - 90. This species in the Lestidium atlanticum species complex is distinguished by the following: complete lateral-line; a simple luminescent duct originating below opercle; differs from its two other congeners in this species complex in having A 31-34; prehaemal vertebrae 35-38 and total vertebrae 87-90; lateral-line ending at caudal fin base, with 142-157 scales; dorsal-fin origin clearly behind tip of adpressed pelvic fin; horizontal distance between origins of pelvic and dorsal fins 5.6-8.5%SL and horizontal distance between origins of pelvic (ventral) and anal fins 28.6-38.6%; lateral-line scales 5-7; vertebrae between pelvic-fin origin and dorsal-fin origin, 4-7. Colouration: dorsal area dark brownish, melanophores extending downward to the lateral-line along its entire upper margin; the anterior portions of snout and lower jaw are blackish; abdomen has a very broad black sub-margin (Ref. 123138).
