Bleeker (1850, 1858) indicates Ikan Wadder Bettah as the local name of Betta trifasciata Bleeker, 1849 (now Betta picta, Valenciennes, 1846) in the Ambarawa Javanese dialect. Dorsal spines (total): 1 - 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-12; Anal spines: 2-3; Anal soft rays: 24 - 28. Belongs to the Betta coccina species group but can be distinguished from the remaining species of this clade by having bright, greenish-colored flanks and unpaired fins (vs. body blackish without iridescent scales, or greenish iridescent scales restricted to the lateral blotch or the central parts of the flanks). Diagnosed from its geographic neighbor species Betta uberis by having 10-12 dorsal-fin rays (vs. 14-17 in B. uberis) (Ref. 93322).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Found in peat swamps with depth of about 5 to 50 cm and with no water current. The water was shaded by trees and bushes. Collected among the aquatic and marsh plants. Forms bubble nest based on aquarium conditions (Ref. 93322).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00376 - 0.02663), b=2.97 (2.75 - 3.19), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
