Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); acutirostris: From the Latin "acutus" = acute, sharp, and "rostrum" = snout, referring to its pointed snout (Ref. 55898).
