Pale brown or grey with irregular brown markings giving blotchy appearance; usually 3-5 dark brown saddles across back (Ref. 44894).
Inhabits quiet waters of brackish estuaries and coastal lakes; also in lower reaches of freshwater streams (Ref. 44894). Found on sand, silt or mud bottoms, usually in small aggregations (Ref. 9002, 44894).
