Etymology: Microlepidogaster: Greek, mikros = small + Greek, lepis = scale + Greek, gaster = stomach (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr Hermillo Bourguy Macedo de Mendonça was a Professor (1901) and became (1924) Curator of Zoology at the National Museum of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. Ribeiro studied under him (ca: 1907) and later became his deputy at the museum. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
Issue
Species inquirenda in Loricariidae according to Ferraris (2007: Ref. 58032). This is uncertain in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Jul. 2010: Ref. 84883). Please send references, or more studies are needed.
