This species is not very colorful (Ref. 12251). Lives in the intermediate habitat, which is characterized by a sandy bottom with numerous rocks; maintains close contact with rocky substrate; ventral part of body remains just few millimeters above substrate while fish follows contours of rock; rare cichlid; occurs at dephts deeper than 15 m; highly developed lateral line system for prey detection (Ref. 46829). Crustaceans, insect larvae, copepods, snail fragments, plant material and sand grains found in stomach (Ref. 46829, 93980).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00389 (0.00180 - 0.00842), b=3.12 (2.94 - 3.30), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trofisk nivå (Ref. 69278):  3.6   ±0.6 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resiliens (Ref. 120179):  Hög, lägsta populationsfördubblingstid mindre än 15 månader (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
