Western Indian Ocean: known only from 2 specimens collected 22.5 km north of Malindi, Kenya.

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 57 - 58; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 45 - 46; Vertebrae: 63 - 64. No scales on cheek and nape. A median pore posterior to posterior interorbital pore; at least with 11 suborbital pores; 9 preopercular pores. A dark spot above pectoral fin.
