Characterized by mainly semi-transparent body color with fine dark speckling; side of snout with brown stripe; brown smudge on upper opercle; predorsal midline with brown stripe; longitudinal scale series 23-31; scaled head and neck; restricted gill opening to pectoral fin base; depth of body at anus 4.5-6.7 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Found on Acropora coral. Usually in 3-15 m, but occasionally to 30 m (Ref 90102).
