Épines dorsales (Total): 2; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 9; Épines anales 1; Rayons mous anaux: 5. Presence of black band and a scarlet stripe from snout to mid-caudal; and an oblique black caudal fin band (Ref. 74592).

Inhabits fast flowing hill streams (Ref. 41236). A herbivorous (Ref. 74596) and a gregarious fish which inhabits rocky pools with thick riparian vegetation (Ref. 74592).
