Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12 - 13; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 11 - 12. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D XIII,12-13; A II,11-12; pectoral-fin rays 17-18; tubed lateral-line scales 17; gill rakers 7 + 17-18 = 24-25. Colouration: body pearly white; a large black marking covering anterior two-thirds of anal fin; small black spot on upper edge of pectoral-fin base; without markings on caudal peduncle (Ref. 132422).
Cross section: compressed.
Collected on a steep slope at 101-118 m, other individuals observed elsewhere at 80-120 m depth. Habitat complexity was medium to high, small crevices and caves, but of low relief, with an apparently high diversity of encrusting sponges (Ref. 132422).
