							Etymology: gaucheri: Named for Philippe Gaucher, who found the first specimens, for its fascinating work on Amazonian fauna.
Eponymy: Philippe Gaucher became (2007) Scientific Director of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and Mission Parc de la Guyane, Cayenne, French Guiana. 					Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 9; Anal soft rays: 13 - 15; Vertebrae: 31 - 35. Differs from other species of the genus by a combination of characters including dorsal and anal fin ray counts, number of scales in lateral and transverse series, by the lack of the supracaudal spot at all ages in both sexes, a short base dorsal fin, a yellow color background on body, a red colored sub-distal area on anal fin in male, with a yellow one in female, and a dark margin on caudal fin (Ref. 78216).
