					Instead of having pale spots in the body, E. stictus and E. polystictus have small black spots (Ref. 48636).

				Are closely related to Ecsenius yaeyamaensis and look most similar to E. stictus from the Great Barrier Reef (Ref. 48636). Oviparous.  Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114).
