Shell-brooding cichlid found in low-density shell areas; greedy eater, feeding mainly on insect larvae (Ref. 46829). Typical snail inhabiter which uses the snail shells as breeding caves; males are too large to fit into the shell so they merely squirt their sperm into the shell at the opportune time (Ref. 12251).
