Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Stenotopic, occurring exclusively on mud bottoms; sublittoral habitat ranging from 5 m to more than 40 m depth; habitat flat or of negligible gradient; digs holes which serve as refuges from predators, breeding sites and form central parts of territories; territory size varies between 1 and 3 m²; found to use shells of the gastropod N. tanganyicense as refuges and breeding sites instead of holes; monogamous; fish community at Mpulungu dominated by this species (Ref. 42182).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.5   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
