Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Occurs in creeks with sandy to sandy-muddy substrate, medium or little sun, 0.5 to 2 m depth. Rarely caught. The mature male's pectoral spine is uniformly very thick along its whole length and is provided with fine needles (Ref. 35381). Sympatric with C. amapaensis.
