See description of type material by Gill (1858:409) as Ancistrus guacharote; new combination by Isbrücker (1980:46); no recent work. This species is uncertain as Chaetostoma trinitatis Günther, 1864 in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Jul. 2010: Ref. 84883).
