This species is sistinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: longitudinal row scales 20-26; transverse row scales 7-9; predorsal scales 6-10; posterior margin of pelvic fins is concave, the fourth ray longest, no frenum, connecting membrane 60.2-66.1% of pelvic fin length; with cephalic sensory canal pores B’C(s)D(s)EFH’ or B’C(s)D(s)EFGH’; Row 16 11R + 1P; Row 20; lower part of the first dorsal fin with a dark blotch (Ref. 124175).
Cross section: oval.
Found under deeply accumulated coral rubble in 6 to 15 m depth (Ref. 124175).
