Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 10 - 13. With unique bulky appearance, with broken dorsal profile with a shallow hump on the nape. Distinguished from other species by having 1/2 6 1/2 scales in a transverse row (Ref 7304).
