Anal and second dorsal fins pointed. Distinguished from Telmatherina opudi, Telmatherina sarasinorum, Telmatherina wahjui and Telmatherina obscura by its greater length (largest specimen known is 68.6 mm SL, vs 60.8) and by its gillrakers which are quite normally developed in small specimens but becomes reduced to a short knob in most of the largest specimens (Ref. 7305).
