Anal soft rays: 20 - 23; Vertebrae: 23. This species is differentiated from its congeners in having the following characters: a dark golden to dark metallic green longitudinal band on the ventral half of body sides from the head to median caudal fin rays; lateral line scales 30-31; anal fin rays 20-23; maxillary teeth 3-7; dentary teeth 13-16 (Ref. 72430).
Occurs in shallow, clear water stream, about 50 - 80 cm deep, in the Cerrado region; sandy bottom with mud, dense aquatic vegetation (Ref. 72430).
