Etymology: Prochilodus: Greek, pro = first, in front of + Greek, cheilos = lip (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Brother Apolinar María (1867–1949) was a missionary monk and ornithologist who collected in Colombia. He was Director of the Institute La Salle in Bogota (1914). (See also Maria) (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
