Etymology: Amblypharyngodon: Greek, amblys = darkness + Greek, pharyngx = pharynx + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335).
More on authors: Vidthayanon & Kottelat.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical
Asia: Chao Phraya basin in Thailand and Mekong basin in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia (Ref. 43281). Reported also from Maeklong and Southeast Thailand river systems (Ref. 26336).
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 4.0 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 30857)
Dorsal soft rays (total): 10; Anal soft rays: 8; Vertebrae: 31 - 32. Distinguished from other congeners by having fewer scales on the lateral row (42-50, versus 50-79), 6-7 perforated scales along lateral line (versus 7-23), and 4-5 scales on a transverse row between normal course of the lateral line and the base of pelvic fin (Ref. 38952). Golden body and blue eye in life; lateral line incomplete; without barbel (Ref. 43281).
Occurs in shallow standing water of paddy fields and ditches. It seems to prefer vegetated areas with floating aquatic vegetation as well as flooded terrestrial grasses. Oviparous (Ref. 205). Not seen in the markets (Ref. 12693).

50 = 0.5312 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00468 (0.00189 - 0.01159), b=3.08 (2.86 - 3.30), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref.

Trophic level (Ref.
69278): 3.1 ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref.
120179): Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Assuming Fec < 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
