Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes) > Clupeiformes
(Herrings) > Clupeidae
(Herrings, shads, sardines, menhadens) > Clupeinae
Etymology: Ramnogaster: Greek, rhamnos, -on = blackberry + Greek, gaster = stomach.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Freshwater; pelagic. Subtropical; 31°S - 38°S
South America: Uruguay and Argentina.
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 10.0 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 188)
soft rays: 12 - 23. Belly sharply keeled. No distinct silver stripe along the flank and the first (anterior) supra-maxilla minute or absent (cf. Platanichthys platana).
