Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical; 10°S - 16°S
Africa: upper reaches of the Okavango, Kafue (Ref. 7248), Zambezi and Quanza (Ref. 11970, 52193, 120641). Also in the Kunene (Ref. 120641). In the Congo basin present in the Lake Mweru system (Ref. 26709, 42540) up to the Bangweulu-Chambesi area (Ref. 42135, 95585), in the upper Lualaba and in the upper Kasai (Ref. 41590) and Kwilu systems (Ref. 11970).
