Diagnosis

Description: Snout rounded, 3 times in length of head; mouth terminal or subinferior; lips moderate, interrupted on chin; barbels 2 on each side, subequal, 1.3 to 1.5 times diameter of eye (Ref. 2988). Dorsal fin with 4 unbranched rays and 7-8 branched rays, equally distant from occiput and from root of caudal, or a little nearer former; last simple ray very strong, bony, strongly serrated, serrated portion 50-66% of head length; anal fin with 3 unbranched rays and 5 branched rays, reaching or nearly reaching caudal fin (Ref. 2988). Scales radiately striated; 48-51 lateral line scales; 5.5-7 scales between lateral line and ventral fin; 20-22 scales around caudal peduncle (Ref. 2988).

Colouration: Brownish or greyish above, whitish beneath (Ref. 2988).
