Diagnosis

This species differs from other epigean congeners in the Middle East by its origin of dorsal fin above the origin of pelvic fin (vs. behind) and almost plain brown with a yellowish narrow reticulate color pattern (vs. mottled or marbled, with a midlateral stripe or with large brown blotches) (Ref. 97574).

Description: 7 1/2 branched dorsal rays; 5 1/2 branched anal rays; 8-9 branched pectoral rays; 7-8 branched pelvic rays (Ref. 97574).
