Diagnosis

Males possesses two broad dusky to blackish bars, one ventral to first dorsal fin, one between second dorsal and anal fins. Pectoral with 16-18 rays. In first dorsal fin, membrane touching anterior base of second dorsal fin, black spot between spine and first ray in second dorsal fin, spot sometimes elongate forming a short bar. Preopercular pores present along preopercular margin. Papilose finger-like projections anterior to urogenital papilla (Ref. 57053).
