Remarks Exhibits clear sexual dimorphism. Males are bright reddish-orange (vs. yellow in color though the fins are orange in females). Very bright during breeding season (vs. orange color of the body is not seen and the dorsal fin acquires slight yellow orange color in prebreeding season) . Males have all fins in reddish-orange (vs. dorsal fin is deep orange except for the last unbranched osseous ray; pectoral pelvic and caudal fins are yellowish in females). During breeding season, both sexes have reddish-orang operculum (Ref. 98590).

Description: D. iii,8; A. iii, 5-6; P i,11-12; V. i,8 (Ref. 57399); 8-9 pre-dorsal scales; 10 pre-pelvic scales; 18 pre-anal scales; 4 scales from lateral line to pelvic base; and exhibit clear sexual dimorphism (Ref. 98590).
